My name is Olga, and I create original and lifelike porcelain BJD dolls.

One day I saw some dolls made by an artist and fell in love with these beautiful creations. As a child, I was very good at drawing and sculpting, so I decided to try making my first polymer clay doll, and I was a success :) I learned the secrets of doll making on my own, gathering bits of information online and learning from my mistakes (mostly). Then I decided to try working with porcelain, and now it's my favorite material. The Parian porcelain I use is fired at 1240 degrees Celsius. It's very durable and incredibly translucent, making it perfect for making dolls; my OOAK BJD dolls are made with this type of porcelain.

It takes immense patience and skill to bring a doll to life, and it really requires a huge amount of manual labor, especially since it's a miniature model, which significantly complicates the process! Here's a far from complete list of the steps involved in creating porcelain BJD dolls:

- Sketching the image

- Sculpting the model

- Creating plaster molds from the model (oh, how tedious, time-consuming, and messy)

- Preparing the casting compound (slip) and casting all the doll parts

- Fine and delicate finishing of the porcelain blank (my favorite step)

- Drying the blanks (with bated breath)

- Firing (several times) and intermediate sanding in water

- Painting in multiple layers (5 to 10) and baking each layer of paint

- Creating wigs and jewelry

- Endless research into period clothing, creating dresses and shoes, hand embroidery

- Creating a beautiful padded doll box from natural wood

- Creating a wooden doll stand 

It seems like a team of professionals are involved, but I do everything myself, from scratch to the final product.

Creating a BJD doll takes about four months, sometimes longer, from concept to finished product: a truly enormous amount of manual labor!
